needs more ammo
President "arrrrgh" just signed a law limiting each household to only one firearm of each type. What are your choices followed by a brief explanation why. Remember, this is all about compromises with the goal of maximum versatility in a doomsday scenario since no one in their right mind would ever limit themselves to one of each.
My first thought is to have a handgun and rifle that could share ammo. However, the shotgun won't share ammo and using a rifle that fires handgun ammo gives up some range. If ammo is still available due to "civilization" still being present, then versatility means I need to take advantage of what each gun type has to offer.
I'd expect a limitation on ammo capacity, but since it's not mentioned - standard capacity firearms all the way.
Handgun - CZ75 compact size in 9mm
Rifle - AR15 flat top with 18" barrel, mid-length gas, mid-weight barrel profile, etc. in 5.56 and a couple more uppers in other chamberings for it
Shotgun - A Remington 870 of some sort in 12 gauge
Now, if there was a semi-auto and ammo capacity "situation" then . . .
Handgun - S&W 686 Plus, 7-shot 4" barrel in .357 magnum
Rifle - Ruger GSR Stainless/Laminate with 18.7" barrel in .308 Winchester
Shotgun - A Remington 870 of some sort in 12 gauge
