OK, this is a forum, not formal writing- I realize that. We all misspell things from time to time. That isn't a big deal. However, there are people out there who make the same errors over and over again. Proofread.
The biggest issue for me (my pet peeve that can sometimes annoy me) is sound alike words:
There: "Over there, over there, spread the word, spread the word...that the Yanks are coming..." there is a place.
They're:This is "they are"
Their: The possessive of "they"
Your: The possessive of "you"
You're: "You are"
Hear: That is what your ears do
Here: Here, not there- here is a location
Our: It is ours, we own it. The possessive for "us".
Hour: The hour is getting late- refers to time.
OK guys, don't take this too seriously. I'm not trying to be some annoying grammar police. Just trying to be minorly humorous while addressing one of my forum pet peeves. In keeping with the spirit, add to the list. What are yours?
