Read my lips John Corzine-D from NJ. People have no right to sue someone for selling a legal product!

Police should not have special rights to sue willy nilly. :banghead:

he has 5:25 minues : seconds left.

Corzine: Reads statement from officer stating that he was shot by a felon, was engaged in gun fight. Describes injuries. Guns don't fall from the sky, the man got the gun from a bad dealer. Why didn't the dealer question the need for 12 guns or cash payment. Dealer said he didn't have to use reasonable care when abiding by law. Officer just wants his right to present his case about wether the dealer was reasonable. Calls on Senators to prevent this bill from being law.

Corzine sucks out loud

Oh, jeeeee-zuzzzz the "first responders" should be exempt from the law.

This guy thinks that a dealer who sells more than one firearm was negligent because he did as the law required and called in a multiple firearm sale. He faults the dealer for letting the sale go through without asking why these people were in need of more than one firearm and why they were paying with cash. These are things that are outside of the law and none of his business.

He states that the dealer called the multiple purchase in because he felt guilty, not because it is the law that he do so. He also stated that the guy took the money and made the sale because the money and profit was more important that the safety of the public.

Wants to allow cops who are shot to be ablew to sue regardless of the tenets of S. 1805.

What a jerk.

Corzine: I consider this a right for LEO to make a case in court before a jury. This bill will deny them that, and retroactively. I don't think LEO should be limited in their ability to make a case. An insult to every police officer. Why is it an LEO can't go into a court and get redress if they've been wrong by an illegal sale? (THEY CAN) This amdt stands for not stripping LE of their rights. The LE is not flooding the courts with frivolous suits.

His ammendment is that LEO's should be exempt from ths law?????

Exactly who made LEO's a different class from other citizens in respect to tort law?

Nothing against cops, but in insisting that cops should be exempt, Corzine really seem like he is saying some animals are more equal than others.

Lautenburg is up. Is he drunk?

Balog: It increases the penalty if you us ap ammo in a crime. It also creates a two year study.

Yea thats it, you should be able to sue innocent people because a criminal shot you. He must be drunk.

The Craig/Frist amend. increased penalties for using AP ammo in a crime, and I believe it also calls for a study about the use of AP ammo in crime.

If they kill it now it is a good thing right?
No chance for them to screw up the AWB deal , and we don't have this AP or vauge gun lock crap to deal with . It might be time to start calling our guys and just say screw it let it die for now .

Lautenberg: This whole situation is surreal, that we want to stand and get pictures taken with cops or talk about their bravery. Hard cold hearts are saying, put yourself on the line but don't expect us to help you get damages. When cop is shot or killed, incomes rarely maintain to support a family. An outrage. We want them to work dangerous jobs, but we don't want to let them go to the courts to see if they can get damages. We at least ought to be able to say that if the mfg or dealer is negligent you can sue ( YOU STILL CAN!). The NRA doesn't want this to happen. They don't want cops to have the same rights of everybody else. If you're killed in an airplane, you have the right to go to court. Don't tell me this story about product liability.

Think any of these morons have read the existing laws??

§ 178.37 Manufacture, importation and sale of armor piercing ammunition.

No person shall manufacture or import, and no manufacturer or importer shall sell or deliver, armor piercing ammunition, except:
(a) The manufacture or importation, or the sale or delivery by any manufacturer or importer, of armor piercing ammunition for the use of the United States or any department or agency thereof or any State or any department, agency or political subdivision thereof;
(b) The manufacture, or the sale or delivery by a manufacturer or importer, of armor piercing ammunition for the purpose of exportation; or
(c) The sale or delivery by a manufacturer or importer of armor piercing ammunition for the purposes of testing or experimentation as authorized by the Director under the provisions of § 178.149.

Kodiak ak: We may be able to strip it clean in comitee. Killing it may be a good idea though.

"you can not sue, because the NRA! dont like it!"

"it does block their right to collect damages" You can sue the gun man all you like, just not the guy who sold them the gun, car, clothes they wore, etc, etc.

If they should be able to sue the manufacturers, why should they not also be able to sue those who regulate the manufacturers?

Lautenberg: Repeats that they don't want cops to have the same rights. It blocks their right to collect damages if they are injured. Submits a list of cops who oppose this, and a Brady ad.

"Every officer fatality is a national tragedy." I guess the deaths of your wife, husband, son, daughter, etc are merely acceptable collateral damage.

Larry Craig is up

"why do we keep kicking them back to the streets so they can comit the crimes again and again" - close to the quote

"they dont say that a law abiding citizen is laiable if someone takes it up and uses it"

"this amendment guts the underlying bill"

"i think its intended to tear down the underlying bill... ... and allow underlying lawsuits to go through"

"the ability to argue to the judge still remains" - to see if you have legal grounds to sue

Way to go Larry Craig

Larry Craig is up, and smacking them like the b*tches they are. Equal rights for all citizens, no special amendments for cops.

What's 1805? He keeps talking about it, aren't they still debating S.659?

What happened to the "gun-show loophole" amendment and safety lock amendment? Were they voted down?

Gun show loophole goes down Tuesday and we lost on the gunlock amendment. There is a quick synopsis with links to vote and text in the S.659 thread tacked at the top of the forum on page 3.
