Name a gun that is defined by the movie or TV show it was in. You know, "the ultimate AK/AR/1911/Sig movie is..." For example:

AK-47: Lord of War
Glock 7: Die Hard 2

Beretta 92-Die Hard(1)
1911-Way of the Gun,Last man Standing(although it held WAAAY too many rounds.)
44 auto mag-One of the Dirty Harry movies, can't remember which.

G17 I presume

You've never heard of a Glock 7? You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. It doesn't show up on your airport X-ray machines, and it costs more than you make here in a month!

I believe that the Lethal Weapon movies contributed greatly towards sales of the Beretta 92fs.

Tom Cruise in Collateral: H&K USP.
Underworld series with Kate Bekensail.: Magnum Research Desert Eagle and Walther P99
The Shield on FX: Smith & Wesson 1911s.
Bond: Walther PPK.
Matt Damon in the Bourne Identity,et all series: Sig Pro SP2022
Mark Wallburg in "Shooter" : Barrett .50BMG and Remington 700SSN
Kenneth Braga: Munich movie: Beretta 92
Antonio Benderas: Desperado: Ruger P95.

This is my shortlist. I have 80 more. ,but you get the idea.

"The Colt Longslide with laser sight."

"Uzi 9mm."

"Phased Plasma rifle in the 40-watt range."

"Just what you see, pal."

U.S. Marshalls: There's a scene where Tommy Lee Jones extolls all the virtues of Glock and tells the guy he is working with to get one.

Quigley Down Under: Sharps rifle

Jack Bauer

In the first two seasons he used a Sig 228/229 depending yes. But in the third season on switched to the HK.

I don't recall Kate using Desert Eagles in Underworld, she used the Walthers and Berrettas with Comps. The DE's were used by the other biting baddies.

Death Wish 4 and Charles Bronson and the Wildey! BOOM!!

how about a paticular caliber? george clooney in dusk till dawn:
"if you make a noise, mr .44 will make a noise. if you ask a question, mr .44 will answer." and so on.

Way Of The Gun

Can't believe nobody mentioned "Way of the Gun", one of the best gun-handling movies ever made, in my opinion. The director, Christopher McQuarrie, had a former SEAL (his brother, IIRC) train the actors, and choreograph the gunplay. There are several scenes where characters use military-style small unit tactics that are pretty well done.

Don't know if it could be called definitive for a particular gun, as there are a great many and varied firearms, but the grand finale firefight involves two guys with 1911s and a whole lotta mags, duking it out with a dozen or so guys with shotguns and snubby revolvers. It's not exactly definitive, but it's certainly symbolic.

Weapons involved in the movie include (but are not limited to):
H&K USP
1911
S&W J-Frame (or earlier models)
Remington 870
Galil .308

I love this movie.

Antonio Benderas: Desperado: Ruger P95

It was a P90

AK47 - C. Thomas Howell - Red Dawn
FN FNC - Al Pacino - Heat

Oh, and of course:

Walther PPK James Bond, any

On The Shield Vic Mackey carries a S&W 4506-1 not a 1911. And lets not forget Snatch and the Desert Eagle point five-oh.
