What are your Gun Goals for 2023?

Especially if you do what I did, go to bank, withdraw $1000 cash, then stop in to the gun shop on the way home! Ha ha, that is how I came to possess my 1911.
Been there and done that and have a full safe to show for it. Especially years of 1911 guns. I never know what will trip my trigger in a coming year. Stuff just happens.

Especially if you do what I did, go to bank, withdraw $1000 cash, then stop in to the gun shop on the way home! Ha ha, that is how I came to possess my 1911. I had no idea I was going to buy a gun, but the 1911 was cool, felt great in my hand, and I kind of had been wanting a gun in .45 ACP, so it just worked out that I could not resist.

Anyhow, my immediate goal now is to return the Sig P938 that I just bought because it has the old, defective main spring which is causing the hammer to follow the slide back sometimes. It will only get worse unless I replace the spring and housing with the updated part, but that is major job and Sig does not warranty for second owners. Gun shop has two more of these so I may just trade for the other one if it has the newer style mainspring. Else, money back.

Second goal, as noted earlier is to spend the $500 gift cards I bought for $400 for this same gun shop. A big bore revolver (.40 something) might be nice.

Also want to do more shooting, but can't decide which gun to shoot next. The SA .44 Magnum would be fun, but so would the DA .45 Colt. And then I have a Bond Derringer with both .38/.357 and .45/.410 barrels. Also have some ammo coming this week in 9mm HP so would like to run some through my SD9VD.

Lastly, since I pocket carry a S&W 442 J-frame, I am wondering if I should get another one as a spare? The GS had one used for $400 and may still have it.

Credit card will get you in more trouble than you think.
I just looked at an all metal M&P at the shop today, but I just looked. Just like going to a gentleman's club!

My goals for 2023 are to use the money for buying ammo and guns on mega million lotto tickets instead so I can retire and buy my own land for a 1000 yard range. Seriously you guys that get to shoot at 500 yards plus are lucky, the only 1000 yard range in Florida closest to me is a 2 hour drive and 100 miles away and you have to pay a membership you can't just pay for a day for something I could only make a trip to sometimes. It's frustrating that I want to practice at beyond 200 yards and can't because of lack of time and economics.

Two words........ International waters......... o_O :)

The only consistent goals have always been, despite always having enough ammo to weather a panicking herd of Non-independent thinkers, to Continue buying bits of ammo pretty often.

Living in a free state, the Non-Fudd Guns will be available for quite a while.

But why --first-- buy a gun Without Already having several months (a min. quantity) of the correct 'Chambering' in the home?
Sidenote: Novices- please be clear, to save people time. A 'caliber' is not a 'chambering', or a .223 (bullet) cartridge in an AR might be called...just.... a ".22".

I did it! Exchanged the P938 with the defective main spring. They had two others and only one had the updated mainspring so I grabbed it this am in an exchange. Came with 4 mags and all were extended so I got the guy to switch out the flush mag from the other gun. He would not switch out the cherrywood grips though, which is what made this look like a 1911, but this one has a fat grip which is pretty nice in the hand so we will see. Had to pay $25 difference but get two more mags, so not a bad deal. So now this gun becomes part of my 2023 goals fulfilled.

I've always liked a happy ending........

One of my goals is always (not just this year), never buy ugly guns. Even if they are fun to shoot they never get shot because they get passed up when loading up the range bags....
I ended up with a beautiful gun for my second gun of the new year. A S&W Model 28-2 manufactured in 1969 and converted from .357 to .41 Magnum!

Now I have to think about my next gun. I don't own any rifles yet. I have lots of .22 LR ammo (over 1000 rounds). Something really fun is the way to go, an old cowboy style rifle.

Get a .22 Revolver!

My goal is to slow down, I have plenty and don't need any more but there's always something out there catching my eye. I'd like to slow down a bit...if that's a thing.

Well, 2022 was the year that my income shifted, considerably, as my former employer finished paying-off my accumulated unused leave, leaving me with just my monthly pension payments, for most of the year. So, my income tax return, which I will soon be filing, will be quite different than previous years. In the coming months, I will be adjusting to either being content living on my monthly pension, or, resuming some type of employment. So, I have no “Gun Goals” for 2023, at this point in time. 2020 through 2022 was a time to rebuild ammo supplies, acquire some “old man guns,” and trade-away some handguns that had become painful to shoot. I may, or may not, be at some kind of equilibrium, holding what I have, and buying very little, except routine cleaning and maintenance supplies, and minor ammo replenishment, to cover the minimal training I will, hopefully, be doing.

Get a .22 Revolver!
Still kicking myself for passing on a H&R top break .22, think it was a 9 shot, for $450. I did acquire a Ruger Wrangler .22 SA last summer, so do have a .22 revolver. I was ready to buy a NAA .22LR mini revolver a couple weeks ago but it was used and they wanted $250 with no wiggle room because it was consignment. Had a nice custom grip, but no way was I going to pay ~retail for a used. I might also like to get another .38 Special revolver some time.
