What are your gun related goals for 2017?

While I'd like to add a Ruger Single ten and some kind of .357/38 levergun, I also want to thin the herd. Thin 18 handguns down to about 5, and 15 long guns also to about 5.
Just sold my Rossi 357/38 and 44mag,GP100,Sub2k,338 win mag and a .270 and I maybe put a dent in my weapons although I did add a Windham AR 7.62x39 and a X95...

My youngest son (13) is finally starting to show a little interest in shooting/hunting. If I have a gun related goal, it's to do more shooting with him.

I'd also like to get wife a 9mm, we don't currently own a 9mm and I think she'd like something with a little less recoil than her normal .40

Read about how/where to securely store the .380 handgun in the car (certainly can't take it into the airport {four times/month}). If also having it immed. accessible is a contradiction, then it won't ever be kept in the car.

My little grandson seldom sees the inside of our house, but...
He is now walking a good bit and is one year 3 months old. We can't afford to underestimate small childrens' ability to find deadly objects-and find a way to use them.

I am going to purchase a handgun that holds 20 rounds, hides in the pocket watch pocket of my jeans, will kill and elephant at one mile, has a 1 pound trigger but is perfectly safe to juggle. This weapon will not only insure my safety and security on the violent adventure self defense incident of my fantasies, it will convert attractive women into shooting range enthusiasts.

I want a Baby Rock .380 gov. model made by Rock Island Arms. That is my goal, might look for a Colt1903 model, otherwise I'm good.

Not buy more guns...

Hahaha! Here's hoping I might manage THAT in some sort of cycle. For example, this coming year I'd like to load more, shoot more, and shoot pistol with an instructor. Clay Martin may travel from Idaho if there's enough interest here locally. What with the rat hole money stash withdrawals lately for a few desirable wheelguns, I hope to save enough again by springtime to schedule a rifle class at Gunsite in '17.
.

Don't know a gun I want to buy, maybe splurge on a 9mm D1050.
Can't bear to sell a gun.
Just want to keep up the same rate of fire and hope the range closures don't get worse... two this year, no replacement for the one year before last, another rumored.

Relax, and start doing more shooting. I have been very conservative and cautious with ammo usage.
This fits me. I have been down right stingy using up my ammo reserves with the pending election and spending quite a bit of time working. I may even re-join the range as I dropped the membership a couple years ago for lack of use.

I don't really have serious firearm wants. I think I might like to get a little NA Arms mini revolver and finally purchase the S&W M63 that I have wanted since they came out with the 2.5" version. I may just start selling some of my collection that has been gathering dust for the last 5 years.

1 Build a deck and target berm so I can shoot 100 yards at the farm and recycle my cast bullets.
2 Sell about 20 guns that I never shoot.
3 Mount and align the CDS scope I bought for my 257 Wby about three years ago.
4 Find someone who cooks squirrels so I can go squirrel hunting again

So a Glock, then?

:D

My goal is to hit a 50 straight in trap. hit a 25 straight at skeet.

Definitely introduce more people to shooting.

I plan on leaving California for free America.

However restrictive someplace like California might be, they are still much more "free" and "liberal" than most of the rest of the world enjoys.

  • Develop a 9mm Parabellum load for my Taurus PT111 that will operate the gun reliably without signs of excessive pressure
  • Sight-in the Savage Axis that I bought in June 2016.
  • Replace the barrel in my grandfather's M1911 pistol with one that hasn't been shot-out across two wars
  • Teach my younger son how to shoot center-fire (he can already shoot groups using a .22 that can be covered by a quarter)
  • Continue work on developing a load for my 5.7mm Johnson Carbine (I expect this to continue well into retirement).

Squirrel preparation is rapidly becoming a lost art. I can process cattle, swine, sheep, goats, rabbit and my wife can deal with raccoon and opossum, but neither of us know how to process squirrel. If you find a process, please take the time to record it and post it on YouTube.
