What are your gun related goals for 2017?

Squirrel preparation is rapidly becoming a lost art. I can process cattle, swine, sheep, goats, rabbit and my wife can deal with raccoon and opossum, but neither of us know how to process squirrel. If you find a process, please take the time to record it and post it on YouTube.
It's not hard, small cut on both sides of tail, stand on tail and with a good grip and a sure foot grab the hind legs and pull, peels the fur right to the head like rabbit, takes a few times to get it down.

I was not talking about how to skin the animal, but how to season it and cook it so that it is palatable. I took it for granted that when I said that between my wife and myself we know how to skin and process 1) cattle, 2) swine, 3) sheep, 4) goats, 5) rabbit, 6) raccoon and 6) opossum that anyone reading the post would understand that skinning an animal would be a skill that could be taken for granted.

My grandma would cut up and fry the young ones like chicken. The older ones were generally stewed and served with dumplings, also like an old chicken.

Mmmmm...... remembering the good old days.

1. Finishing developing loads for a 22x6.8 AR rifle I built a year ago.
2. Build a 22 BR Savage Target Action bolt rifle. Barrel and stock are on the way. Action already on hand.
3. Try out #1 and #2 on prairie dogs.
4. Maybe finally assemble two Garands that I have had parts for since about 2012.

1. Shoot the boxes of test loads that I haven't had a chance to test yet.
2. Find an M1 Carbine for my girlfriend because she has a love affair with them.
3. Shoot the many guns in my collection that haven't gotten any attention this year.
4. Load more (especially since I have a new turret press showing up this weekend :D)

In October I ripped a ligament in my left foot that really limits my mobility. Was able to get my new FN 5.7 out to the range once before it happened. Did manage to hobble into my LGS a couple of weeks ago and pick up a CZ EVO Scorpion S1 carbine I had on lay away. Can't stand on just one foot to shoot so it's still a virgin. Having fun buying accessories for it though.
2017 goals: Heal up and get out to the range as soon as possible. Add another wheelie to my S&W collection. Probably a Model 637 Airweight. Also have had my eye on a SA 1911 "4 Lightweight Champion Range Officer in 9 mm but maybe .45 ACP so that could very well happen,

Where do you shoot prairie dogs in TN?

I want to try to get more 25/20 ammo for my three 25/20 rifles. The 25/20 is a great
back yard and small game rifle. just got some 32/20 brass from Midway today. Got
to see if I can make 25/20 out of it.

Other than shooting as much as I can, I'm going to buy fewer guns this year. I'd like to save up for a couple more expensive specimens and not waste money on the impulse buy, sell it later types. Namely, I'd like a Daniel Defense AR and a Les Baer UTC.

No need. Several videos are already posted on youtube. Just do a search!

Improve my shooting skills to get back to where I was 8 years ago when I took a hiatus. Get a rifle/scope combo good enough for silhouette shooting and start practicing. Or figure out how to turn my CZ 455 into a shooter for silhouette.

Load more ammo. I really don't need any other firearms. I have all of the bases pretty much covered. For the last few decades I've just been buying on impulse, usually things that don't fit any niche, I just want it. That won't stop, but I have only one thing I'd like to find, but likely never will, is an affordable Webley Fosbery.

For 2017:
1. Find a decent p[lace to shoot less than 1 hour's drive--each way--(which will lead to shooting more often, what with w/e & nights free via retirement of my p/t job).
2. Trip to Anniston, AL
3. Decent s/a M-14
4. Decent M-1 carbine.
5. Some sort of financial escape plane from this DFW perdition and way from all the Eloi.

I think I want to shoot up what I have supplies left to reload with on the shelf, my bullets and powder, shoot and reload till it's gone, and sell off my reloading equipment. I'll never shoot all this stuff, even if I live to be 80. ( which I won't )
I think I'd rather save my eyesight for shooting rather than reloading from here out. But It will take more than 2017 to accomplish this. I just have to stop buying bullets and scrounging up range brass!
