What are your Gun Goals for 2023?

Enjoy the guns I Now own........and resist any 'need' to acquire another, simply to experience the Feeling of Acquiring something 'new'.

It's not that difficult :scrutiny: (a little irony). One main factor is having either reactive or static targets being satisfying, though repetitive—
Today I found mostly-intact, "pre-used" clay pigeons on our Skeet Ranges, -----------but put the Pigeons on the 50 yard Action Pistol berm for handgun and rifle.

Being creative does Not mean that you are “light on your feet”:D

There is zero yearning to have the very most accurate guns (you would never know..)-, but good HK aperture sights are enjoyable.
Reliability, fun, and mostly having Military (& foreign police) looks are good enough.

I try to limit myself to no more than 3 new guns a year it seems to work out

In 2022 I ticked off an M1911A1 from the CMP and a S&W 3913NL.

Focusing on saving up for a S&W 686, getting my reloading room “finished”, and getting out shooting more with my daughter. I want her confident enough to pull the trigger if the buck winds up in her sights in 2023.

Sell 3/4 of my guns. Well over a hundred currently. And decided I have way to many that I do not shoot.

I do that from time to time, reduce the number and improve the quality. I've come to the realization that number of guns isn't near as satisfying as guns that are of higher quality, including their accoutrements. Sold a scoped rifle just this last year to purchase just a scope, but well worth it. Those Leupold VX6HD's are so nice.

I have a few more underutilized firearms that need to get sold and free up some cash for some improvements.

Thanks for all the replies guys as far as me I am focusing on getting organized (say that every year but it’s getting better) clean out the junk from the reloading room load more shoot more save up for a future antelope hunt then maybe maybe if funds allow a new rifle this year maybe………

Continue improving my shooting (since Sept I've been going to the range once or twice a week, shooting 300-500 rounds per range trip), and possibly doing my first competition.

It has been forever since I took a training class (other than my MD carry permit class), especially a good defensive oriented class. I'm already signed up for one in January (just a short couple hour class), and I intend to sign up for a few more. Along the same lines, I want to sign up for some simulator training for some realistic defensive scenarios.

I am a teacher. I love shooting and collecting guns. I've long considered "some day" putting that together and getting certified as a firearms instructor. After Bruen, there are a lot of newbies getting involved (some of the gun handling and marksmanship in my carry class was outright scary). I'm thinking it may finally be the year and I may get either NRA or USCCA certification and start teaching some classes geared towards beginning shooters.

Back in Sept I started on a goal of revamping my collection and getting rid of guns that didn't really work out for what I intended them to do, that no longer really fit a niche in my collection, or weren't really what I wanted to start with and I bought due to finances and they were cheaper than the gun I really wanted, and replacing them with guns that fit my needs and wants better. Well, I've done a good job of adding guns that fit what I want better (a Colt Gold Cup, a Dan Wesson Heritage, a SA Garrison 9mm, a .22 pistol and .22 revolver, a couple Glocks, a SIG P365, a Rossi 92 lever rifle in
357mag), but I haven't done as well on the selling guns part. I have 10-15 guns that I will probably take to a dealer to put on consignment in the next week or two, and I still have 2-5 on the list to buy in the next few months (I still have a bigger want list than that, but I'm only buying 2-5 in the short term).

My gun goals for 2023 include two $250 gift cards I just bought today at my local GS. They are closing for the rest of the year and had specials including they were selling gift cards at a discount. $90 for a $100 card and $200 for a $250 card. So I have $500 towards my next gun. I think it may be time for another revolver. They have some nice .44 magnum DA/SAs in stock, although I would prefer a .44 special or .45 colt.

You can always just shoot specials with the 44mag. I prefer the Ruger.
I need to change the scope on a sheep rifle, find something lighter. Have/ install a new trigger assem for a mod 60. Have/install a new front sight on a Ruger Mark IV. Install a scope on a mod 70 375H&H. Install a scope and some upgrades on a POF - 308. Have/install a new stock on a Rem 870 Wingmaster 12, and a Marlin Trapper 45/70. Have/install a new mag tube and lever on an 1894 Marlin 44mag. See if I can repair a nylon 66 stock. I might get a few of these done this year, since I’m off for the rest of the year…

True but then the extra chamber area fouls out after a while and it seems hard to clean that part out compared to the rifling which basically cleans out from the bullet passing through (so shoot a few FMJs after a run of lead bullets). Still have to clean it but nothing like the chamber area.

Do you reload you could just run some lighter .44 mags through it then?

Good reason to reload, but my only reloading experience was helping a friend reload 12 gauge shotgun shells back in the 1970s. We shot one with no bbs in his basement for kicks. Pretty sure the powder charge was in it because the wad hit the other wall. At least we knew better than to point it at each other. Crazy the things young people will do.

@aaaaa if you want a 44 special or 45 colt. Wait for the right one! One thing that I have found in my years of gun buying and trading.
If you have an itch for a specific gun or cartridge you can't scratch it with something else!
I have had the itch for a 8mm Remington Mag since 1988! Still need to scratch it :uhoh:

I will use the cold weather as an excuse to organize my gun room, set up my reloading gear, and replenish ammo supplies. I do hope to shoot more and sell guns that I don't enjoy shooting. It's an ongoing effort, but I want to have things in place for peace of mind.
