What are your gun related goals for 2017?

I consolidated my collection in 2016. I want one of the new Ruger GP100s in .44 Special. Other than that, not looking to buy anything new.

My plans are to reload a lot more, and make regular time to get to the range. This past year I simply didn't shoot enough.

Seems like the consensus of this thread is that 2017 is going to be a "buyer's market", with most people looking to either reduce their collection or stay level. Combined with reduced anxiety over federal gun control, I'm expecting those who are looking to buy should see favorable prices for used and new firearms.

I hope you are right...
Most used gun prices have been inflated in my area for some time, depending on model and caliber.
Single-action revolvers in calibers like .41Mag and .45Colt have been at least $50-100 less than the same model in .357Mag and .44Mag.
I'm actually OK with that as I think I have all the .357Mag and .44Mag revolvers that I need...not so sure I can say the same about .41Mag or .45Colt SA revolvers.
Then again, I have been looking pretty hard at the brass-grip frame, case colored frame with blued barrel SAA-clone Uberti in .357Mag or .45Colt...just can't make up my mind as to which caliber would be best for me. This would primarily be a range gun as I have lots of adjustable sighted revolvers in various calibers for hiking/hunting/self-defense whether SA or DA.

Help my lady finish her AR. We're going to try cerakoting on our own. Maybe.
Find an outdoor range nearby, join.
Go shoot sporting clays at least once.
Savage 93R17bsev. I don't have a 17, and it's funky looking.
I've got my "bases" covered, so this year I'll pick up something I really don't need. S&W 500, Deagle 50 (gold, of course), FN57 or PS90, or something like that. Or maybe a 50 cal rifle...though I don't have anywhere to shoot it yet.

Oh, and get a suppressor or two, once they are legal in Illinois. (ha!)

Now that I've retired--to reload more and shoot more.

Problem is---it won't be till at least April till the snow will be low enough to shoot in my
back yard pistol range.

I believe I mentioned that I have been lusting for a Model 63 Smith 22 revolver (3 inch) and kept putting off the purchase mostly because I never see them in gun shops. That changed and I bought one. So, unless something really earth shaking happens, I doubt I will buy any firearms in 2017. I want to shoot more and use what I have. I have been really frugal about using up my stash of 22 ammo. It is stupid really as I have an abundant supply unless I were to supply a scout troop with ammo for a week. Frankly, I could handle that as well and still have a good supply for myself.

I also want to reload more. I'm just lazy in that regard.

I am seriously considering selling off a good portion of my collection this year. Just haven't made up my mind. It is a big decision as I have owned many of these guns for 30 years. I also have not decided on how to sell them either.... piece by piece, consignment, all to a collector dealer at once.....

My plan WAS to pick up a Beretta 92FS after the first of the year. However, I couldn't pass up the $400 S&W M&P .40 that Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore had. After the order was placed, SWMBO informed me that it will be my last gun purchase for a while. Oh, well, I was mostly wanting a full-sized auto, preferably in .40, and the Beretta was mostly for nostalgia (it was the first firearm I ever purchased, then sold), and they aren't going anywhere, so I can wait.

Looks like 2017 will be taken up by enjoying the guns I already have, instead of acquiring more...

too just get out. as we were very cautious the last couple years. after having built the 22 ammo up to about10 thousand i would like to build the centerfire inventory up.
