The 444 is a good design and using the bullets that are available today is where this shooter comes in high on the list of calibers that are handy in the lever guns, the 444 and 35 are able to use the same bullets as the pistols in the same diam. 44 mag and the 357 mag.

So you can have that nice range of choice.

Just like the 3006 and its ability to have a lot of bullets available from the 100 to the 220 and above.;)

The 45-70 maybe superior on paper for the Grizz but in reality the 444 is your better buy for an all around shooter. And it has the ability to do what you want, bullet design is the thing and we have come about 180 in what we have done in the last 100 years of designing bullets. Now it is just a hard cast lead again:confused:

45-70 Marlin Guide gun. As noted, the Garrett loads will kill right up there with a 458 - and are probably too much, although the Marlin will take the pressures. But you shoulder won't like it.
