What's your favorite rifle to shoot? It doesn't necessarily the most accurate, just the one you feel the most comfortable with, enjoy shooting.

It could be one you borrowed, one you own, or one you used to own.

So far, my 10/22, for the sole reason that I don't think about how much I'm spending with each round like I do with my M77 in .270. I just got an SKS though and I'm taking it to the range this week so that may change.

"A Marlin model 39 .22 levergun is hard to beat"

I second that, except that I shoot a Winchester 9422. Shooting smallbore silhouettes with a lever action rifle is way fun.

Fave shooter? Easy!

Whatever I've got snugged up to my shoulder at the moment! When I'm shooting, everything else in the world just melts away--it's me and the sights and the trigger.

Line it up and squeeze. Breathe careful.

Must shut off computer now and go bang.

Wow, a lot of .22s. I guess that makes sense. They are so cheap to shoot, easy to shoot and accurate, you get real attached to them.

While I love my .22 rifles and shoot them more than anything, I think my favorite has to be my only rifle with a name: Jane as in Plain Jane. I built her myself and she's gone through a couple evolutions, but I love her just as she is right now with a 20" 1/9 twist govt. profile bushmaster barrel and a basic A2 upper. No free float, rails, scopes, flash suppressors, tac slings, or any of that stuff. Just some surplus 55gr. and iron sights set to a 50 yard zero. She's lightweight, accurate, easy to shoot and loads of fun. :)

Savage 116 30-06 wasn't it Cooper that said 'only accurate rifles are interesting'?

Still, it is fun to play with the AK... but the Savage puts the meat on the table.

My favorite shootin' rifle would have to be my Springfield SAR-4800 (FAL clone). With the iron sights, it's accurate enough. However, I like to lug it out to the range to turn heads and answer questions. That may sound fairly shallow, but being as cheap as I am and having spent $1200 on the rifle and another $300 on services such as a KDF muzzle brake, I think I deserve to be a bit superficial. :D

When it comes to sheer enjoyment, I can't think of anything better than a quality .22LR or SKS as there's absolutely no guilt in extended range sessions with the ammunition being as cheap as it is. If it weren't for the additional cleaning required, I'd probably best the .22LR and SKS with any of my black powder percussion rifles... but alas, laziness plagues me.

My Cody Ballard made Low Wall .22 is easily my favorite rifle. I had it built to replicate the balance and weight of my 40-70 Silhouette High Wall. for off-hand practice and 100 yard reduced size silhouettes.

I shoot the .22 probably 5 times as much than any other rifle I own. I can hit the range for some quality practice without the hassles of loading or casting bullets.

I only wonder why it took me so long to fall in love with a good .22….again.

I've got some accurate rifles all scoped out and worked up, but they are for serious fun. For plain old plinkin' fun, I've gotta say my iron sighted lever actions have always been my first choice. Either a Win 94 in .45 Colt or a Marlin 39. You can shoot either one all day without strain and never have a discouraging word to say about them. They are at home on the range. ;)

Ooo, that's a toughie.

Well, for all around useful and reliability, a select-fire AK47 variant.

For general amusement, an automatic belt-fed grenade launcher. Not sure if that qualifies as a rifle or not. Well, the barrel has rifling in it and it uses cartridges (sorta), so I say it counts!

For sick amusement, a Barrett. Buddy and I used to borrow a set of Barretts from EOD. I'd stand up in front of foreign Armies, fire the Barrett from the standing (firing 10 blanks), and have my buddy shoot my target for me. The first time we did so, it was just a ragged hole. The second time we did it, my buddy shot a happy face in the target.

Shooting melons, commie landmines, etc is just good clean fun, yanno?

Wow this is sort of like using the word "favorite" around kids... :what:

But if I'm going to pull a rifle out of the rack just to do some Sunday afternoon plinking its going to be either the Rossi 92 or Win94 Trapper in .45C.

Or for 100yrd plinking one of the G1's or the Izzy LB.

The question is almost unanswerable - usually it's the rifle I am shooting at the time!! :p

Cheap plinking + grin = Marlin 60.

FAL - enjoyment only limited by ammo supply and strength/longevity of steel gong!

For sheer ''ooommph'' - a stoked load thru Ruger #1 in 45-70. ;)
