Which SHTF Pistol: Glock or 1911?

The thread that will not DIE... :banghead:

There's a song in here somewhere... :D

Oh - and to answer the original question:

Between a Glock and a 1911 as much as I hate to say it I'd have to take the Glock. I had a G22 once. Didn't much like it because of the trigger and grip angle but man was that thing reliable. It never ever failed to go bang in thousands of trigger pulls - HELL! A couple of times or so it even went bang twice with a single trigger pull. Dropped it on concrete a couple of times and it just kept on tickin' (same can't be said of a S&W 638 I dropped once). Got to the point where I only ever bothered to clean it every other outing or so. It didn't mind at all.

Now I like my 1911 but it's failed to eject 3 times out of a couple thousand trigger pulls. With my luck if I really needed it to go bang it would pick that particular time to make it 4. Then it takes a while longer to take down and clean the 1911 than the Glock.

The 1911 is way prettier and way, way more accurate than that G22 I had but when push comes to shove there's just enough doubt in my mind about it's reliability compared to that of the Glock that in a SHTF situation I'd have to grab a Glock (except I traded the darned thing a year and a half ago for an M1 Garand). So I guess I'd be grabbin' that 1911 after all. :neener:

Ya know, I've pretty much said my piece concerning the original subject of this thread, but I'll be damned if I'm not starting to think that "echo5tango" isn't an 'aka'.;) It begins with 'echo'...just a gut feeling.

echo5tango is just a basic radio handle.

If you really think I'm in any way affiliated with anyone in this thread or on this board, look up a few posts and use my IP address to find out where I'm located
