What's your favorite caliber?

It’s hard to choose between 357, 44 mag, and 45 acp
Any of them are very flexible and can be loaded for anything I can think of

.357 Sig is my favorite handgun cartridge. Why? I dunno, but it is. 125gr bullets at 1300-1450fps (depending on barrel length) in an bottlenecked autoloading cartridge, just speaks to me.

It quietly whispers "Convert all your .40S&W guns".

And I quietly whisper back "I already did".

What's your favorite caliber?
? Did you mean to ask favorite cartridge?
There are over thirty cartridges chambered for the .308 caliber.
Sorry I don't mean to be picky but...

I guess my favorite one would be 22... I love squirrel hunting and I prob have 10 times the ammo over everything else...

I liked your post for the quality and not the content, lol. I bought a Glock G31 in 2001 or so to replace a G24 and I found the .357 Sig to be noticeably more snappy and obnoxious than .40 S&W. But, that's not why I abandoned it and returned to .40 S&W. It was because it was so expensive and hard to find back then, when I didn't reload and had a wife and two kids in the house.

Now, I do reload, and I agree the numbers are impressive, but I have heard it is a pain to reload and I just don't have an interest in trying to reload another caliber in the middle of the greatest ammo and components shortage in modern history.

That's pretty understandable. It's got a few more steps in the reloading process, and is not nearly as simple as straight walled pistol cartridges. But once you have a process and have the dies dialed in, it's not a big deal.

I actually only have two loads. One is a 124gr FMJ-FP with Power Pistol, and the other a 125gr Gold Dot with BE-86. Some people like the idea of loading a variety of bullet weights and working up many different loads for "versatility". I like to keep it simple. Though I prefer Federal 125gr HST for carry.

It's snappier than .40, but not quite so pushy. Or atleast that's been my experience. It probably is a dying cartridge, as people say. But so is the .41 mag, and I still have one of those.

25-20......wait a minute! This is a handgun thread.! Don't think any handgun was ever chambered in 25-20..... OK, 32-20!!

9mm
.45 ACP
.22 LR
.223
12 guage
.357

9mm is what I shoot the most of, I like .45 about the same but costs to reload are higher than 9 so I just shoot more 9.
(primer/powder are about the same but 230s just cost more than 124s;))

I only have what I enjoy, that's .22LR, .38 SPL/.357, 9mm and .45 ACP. Before the ammo craziness I was tapering off .38spl/.357 due to costs. About all I'm willing to send downrange is .22LR.

I solved all the .357Sig problems, the cure was called 38 Super, all American.:p

500 Magnum then 22LR does wonders for your flinch :) actually just kidding it would be as follows

44 mag
357 mag
.40mm
9mm
455 eley
22LR
But I start with the 500, easy day after that..

1. 40 S&W.
2. 44 Spl
3. 38spl
3. 327 Fed
3. 9mm Luger
3. 45acp
3. 357 mag

7.62x39

Lots of calibers around my house. The highest representation is .22. The most I’ve ever paid for a gun is a .22 pistol. The wife is still stewing about that. Generally a .22 sets by my side on the porch waiting for some critter to show itself. The highest quantity of ammunition in stock is .22. Other than that I’d say .22.

I shoot more shotgun than anything.
12 for Trap and Sporting Clays, 20 for Skeet.

I guess it would be 22, 9 & 45
But I have guns in 5.56, .308, 7.62x39, 300bk, 45c, 357, 38sp, 40 s&w .... :)

.45 Super works for me; I CCW carry my Kimber stainless TLE/RL, and I use
Underwood 185 gr. XTP/JHP's (1300 / 700). I prefer BIG "SD" power; also I
can switch to any of the various .45 acp rounds when I want with a simple
recoil spring change.

I don't know that I could pick just one, but I'd like to think I've narrowed my guns down to my favorite calibers: .357 Mag and 44 Mag in revolvers and .40 for my carry guns with the exception of one lone 9mm.
