And here is the 'catch' for Chicago cops who want to carry M-4's... (Sun Times)

Just who would they turn them in to? The CPD? The state's attorney? The state attorney general? None of them want anything to do with it (seeing as they are mostly active conspirators with the criminal enterprise known as Chicago), and the feds are only interested in high profile stuff
Fitzgerald, the Federal Prosecutor. He's already investigating IAD. Apparently a LOT of people knew what Jerry Finnegan and SOS were doing, but NOBODY did ANYTHING, least of all IAD.

I guarantee you there's enough "high profile" stuff waiting to be exposed to provide material for five seasons of "City Confidential". Too bad the narrator died. They could replace him with Morgan Freeman. I like Morgan Freeman...

This test is a joke, not only are the requirements ridiculously low but the selection of exercises is idiotic. Why is everyone so obsessed with the bench press?

The feds do not care one bit about the ongoing run of the mill crap that goes on. They want show prosecutions of connected people, not low level cops.

How about a pattern of fixing police discipline cases by IAD and the Police Board, a la Graylord? Not quite as sexy as Patricia Velazquez, but close enough for government work.

I don't think the feds are going to start anything new. If Obama or Hillary wins, one of the first things that will happen is a new US attorney will be appointed and any future cases involving Daley and his corrupt henchmen will never see the light of day.

I agree that the test isn't related to one's ability to use a M4 effectively, but a cop ought to be able to do that test for many other reasons. It does not exactly require being an elite athelete or even in good shape.

Any cop who cannot make that run will be hard pressed to catch someone in a footchase if that person isn't in horrible shape themselves.

Is that one rep on the bench press? Some one who is decently strong can do multiple sets of ten reps with their body weight no problem. If they are talking one rep max at 87% of your body weight that is nothing.

I'm not sure why they select bench press it is not a particularly usefull test of functionaly strength IMHO. That said unless you have injuries or disability you ought to be able to put up 87% of your body weight.

Does anyone know the fitness requirements for their police in general not just the ne who wish to have M4s?

Do police in Chicago actually chase anyone? I would bet the typical "foot chase" is less than 50 feet. The stuff you see on TV where cops run someone down after a mile or two chase is not real common. It might happen once in a blue moon, but it is not the norm. Thats what radios are for.

Did you see the picture of the bipolar, alcoholic Chicago cop who beat up the elderly man and 50 year old woman in Niles recently? I doubt he could beat Teddy Kennedy in a 50 INCH chase. BTW, he's accused the Niles PD of "police brutality"...

A male officer between 30 and 40 years old must run 1.5 miles in 14.3 minutes, do 34 sit-ups in a minute, bench press 87 percent of his weight and do a 15-inch sit-and-reach.

Yeah ummmm.... that is either showing their police force is terribly out of shape or they wanted everyone to pass.

Bond said 85 percent of the officers who've taken the fitness test for the M4s have passed. She would not say how many have taken it.

Either that or they want to protect criminals by giving them the chance to run away.

And what about 20 to 30 year old officers?
