Didn't McCloud carry a 7-1/2" Colt SAA?

Deputy US Marshall Sam McCloud carried a blued .45 Colt SAA with a 4¾" barrel. My all time favorite episode was when, while at the range, the Chief told McCloud he needed to get a .38. The CHief had just fired a nice tight group with his Detective Special. Sam fired a five shot group with all shots touching and remarked, "Not quite a small as yours, but then a .45 makes a bigger hole." Priceless!

McCloud used a few pistols. A Colt SAA in 4 and 3/4" was the pistol used most. There was a nickel Colt SAA in several episodes that had a 5 and 1/2" barrel. There were "flashbacks" that showed Sam using a Colt SAA with a 7 and 1/2" barrel. They were all 45 Long Colt though. The thing that always stood out was his Mexican carry. I always wanted to see Sam have to draw from under his suit coat and his sherpa coat.

You forgot about James Caan, in Alien Nation (Movie) that carried the 454 Casul with the scope when his beretta failed to put down an alien in the drainage pipe. And, Danny Glover carried a Model 15 (i think) with a Smith and Wesson 5946 in a back-up shoulder holster in Lethal Weapon III.

Several have mentioned Thomas Magnum's stock-looking GI .45. Anyone recall the sidearms used by his sidekicks? As I recall, TJ, the chopper pilot, used a 4" S&W of some kind. I think it had adjustable sights, but not certain. What was the name of the semi-mobbed-up club operator? I BELIEVE he used a PPK in a couple of episodes. And Jonothan Higgins - - - No clear recollection, but logically, I'd imagine he HAD to have a Webley MK-VI or the like. I know he used a handgun in at least one installment, but don't remember what it was.

Can't recall what T.C. carried in the chopper. Rick was shown using an Uzi in more than one episode. And yes, in one episode, Higgins had a Webley.

In the movie "Manhunter"(the original Hannibal Lector movie)the lead guy Will Graham(the guy who plays Grisham in CSI)carried a Charter arms buldog 44spl with glaser safety slugs...they even mention the Glasers in one scene....

Nicolas Cage in Face Off, his twin gold plated 1911's
Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross and his SIG (P226 i think)
Steven Segal and his 1911 (In damn near every one of his films) more for the gun than him.

What about RoboCop and his machine pistol??

Just kidding

Wardog and Johnny:

Yeah, that was "Tango and Cash". Horrible, like you said. It was funny in a retro way, though. That movie was made when, back in the mid-80's? Do you remember the size of the laser that Kurt Russel had on his revolver at the beginning of the movie? God, that thing was huge, and it looked like it was plugged into a wall socket somewhere! LOL. I understand that Kurt Russell is actually a gun guy, too. I believe he went with a BHP after his escape from jail. Oh, and Stallone also had a M1911 of some kind (as a backup- that movie was stupid , you know....?), but I think it was only in one scene.

Abominable No-Man
Also, how about "Walker, Texas Ranger"; yeah, the show is kind of cheezy, but Chuck Norris is always carrying something different. I remember he was carrying a revolver, a .44 mag I think, for a while, and then he was carrying a beretta for a while, then a 1911 of some kind, and I believe i remember him carrying a S&W 945 once, too.
Look closer . Frame mounted safty . That makes it a Tarus.

True- I only saw it once, and it was always in Chuck Norris's holster. But I think that the S&W 945 has a frame mounted safety, too, and something about the way the grip was shaped makes me think it was a Smith. But it was a few years ago that I saw that episode, and I don't watch it regularly, so I might be wrong.
