First off, I never said I hated 1911s. I own them, I just wouldn't carry one for self defense or use one for home protection if I had what I considered a better choice. Second, I never said the Star made a "ragged hole at 25". It made a hole slightly larger than the diameter of the 9mm round I was shooting. Get it? Almost putting every shot in the same exact hole may not be as good as you can do but I was pretty happy with it even if it was only 25' and from a rest. I haven't shot many centerfires autos that would do better.
I'm sorry if me not loving 1911s angers some people but that is a problem you need to deal with. It is not my problem if you get mad because I want to find out what everyone thinks is so great about a certain handgun. I don't see anything that makes the 1911 the king of semi-autos. The fact is, I am sure it is not, at least not in my book. If me saying that I think 1911s are good for some things and not so great for others makes you put me on your "ignore list", you need to relax. I can just imagine BluesBear running around the house swearing everytime he reads that someone said they just didn't think the 1911 was the gun for them. Man, I don't know why you are so upset but life is too short to act like that. You seem like a guy that is quick to judge and angers easy. That is too bad because you are going to spend a large portion of your life being miserable if you keep that up.
Now I am sorry I started this thread. I didn't start it to cause fights, I wanted to know if there was something I was missing but now I found out that there wasn't. It is just personal preference, and I prefer not to use 1911 in self defense for my own reasons. I think my reasons are valid and I am still a little surprised that more people don't agree with me. I think the people that would agree with me have more sense then getting invloved in a crappy thread like this.
