Trouble in the Big D

Wow! I thought this thread ended a week ago, got busy with work and just now noticed the additional comments.

Thank you all for your comments. Certainly there are things I could have done better and if a situation ever arises again, I will do better.

It is interesting seeing the extremes of comments. The gun, although not pulled, still served a purpose, deterrence. If necessary, I would have pulled and used it. But any action, raising a hand and responding sternly to going to a gun, carries a risk of escalating the situation. I used the best judgement I had at the time to minimize the risk of escalation.

Going to the other extreme.
I grew up in a city where you learn to avoid this sort of thing before you reach puberty and where watching it is entertainment.
Entertainment? I was a pre-pubescent victim of a predator, there was nothing entertaining about it then or now. The guy who targeted me recently, like the one many years ago, was a predator. They are the only two I have ever met. (Believe me, they have a specific manner. They take delight in harm and toy with their victims. I wish they didn't exist.) The goal was to protect my wife and child with the least possible disruption to their lives. Yes, I had some fear. I also have a lot of anger. Both of those were/are a distraction to the goal, the safety of my family.

Again, thank you all. I appreciate your comments and have learned from them.
