Firearm -- % of time carried

  1. Glock 27 -- 90%
  2. Ruger LCP or LCR (have both) -- 5%
  3. S&W Mod. 66(.357) -- 3%
  4. EAA EZ-9 -- 2%

My Sigma has been relegated to "house gun". Not a fan of that trigger, but I can't bring myself to sell it. I know I'm not the only one here who just isn't capable of selling many guns. :)

Enviroment (setting) and weather (clothing) play a role in the following:

Taurus PT58HC SS .380
Beretta 3032 Tomcat .32 ACP
Taurus PT99SS 9mm
SW Chief Special .38

45 Colt. Why? Because I shoot them very well, like the handling characteristics, and just plain enjoy the cartridge. Platform is either a 3-3/4 inch Birds Head Vaquero or 4-5/8 inch Blackhawk with either in a Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake.

Great response to the poll !

looks like the 9mm, 45 ACP, and 38/357 combinations are the top 3...

yet the gun writers tout the 40 S&W... interesting

Depends on where I'm going and what I'm wearing.

There's a 442 in my jeans pocket right now, because I'm at home, in the detached man-cave, typing on a computer.

I actually prefer my 637 2-1/2"bbl when I'm ranging out of the house wearing pants with big-enough pockets but still wanting "front-pocket-carry".

At work I routinely carry a S&W m410 .40. In casual wear on the street, I often IWB carry a 908. (Yes I'm a S&W 3rd gen fan).

Out and about on the farm, I usually choose to carry a S&W M64 .38, and this is, BTW, the handgun I'm most accurate with, and because of that, I wish I could have at hand always, but, my wardrobe doesn't often work for me to conceal it well.

If I'm going to a social-function or wedding etc. where "discreet" is paramount, I will, at minimum, pocket-carry a LCP.

So... it depends... but I'm in the "always-armed" camp, so I pick what's best for me, given the situation-specific personal restrictions.

Sorry for the long answer. I'm not making recommendations. Just saying what works for me right now in "carry-guns".

My daily carry is a Kahr TP9 due to it's ease of carrying conceal. When things might be a little more serious, then I depend on a Browning High Power due to it's firepower capacity and reliability. While there is some that think the 9mm is to light of a round for a defensive handgun. It's not the size of the bullet that matters as much as where you put them.

I didn't vote because I have no clear preference between the 9x19 or .45 ACP. Each is best in its' own way.

If I am hunting and calling coyotes in close, I prefer the .45 because it seems to be a somewhat better stopper and has less muzzle flash in low light.

38 snub. Best concealability of any firearm that packs a sufficient punch. Reliable, incredibly light. You can't go wrong here. What I wear most of the time, especially in the winter in a pocket holster. No other option can result in a faster draw if needed.

xd for me

there is always a gun with me, either a service size or sub-compact xd 9mm. They ride in a fobus paddle holster around the house or with a jacket over it, or the supertuck iwb. Both are reliable, durable and accurate!

carry ammo

CZ Rami 9mm - Crossbreed SuperTuck IWB - Hornady XTP or Rem G Sabers.

I've carried just about everything though.

.380 acp
.38 spl +P
.357 mag
.40 S&W
.45 acp

Prefer the 9mm for the capacity and follow up shots. I still carry just about everything from time to time.

Since you could only vote for one I went with the .38 spl. My off duty weapone since I tend to carry it more in a week the the .357 sig they issue us.

be safe

I figure in a couple more days more than 500 people will have voted... excellent response !
