What's your favorite caliber?

It’s a Ruger SP 101 .38 that I put the wooden grip panels from compact GP 100 grips on. (It had the black plastic ones originally.) The GP compact grips got some new inserts from Chiggs Grips and went on my 3” GP 100 .44 Spl to replace the (IMHO) sort of weirdly shaped factory rubber grips.

It is a tank of a .38 snub for sure.

Stay safe.

My last good SP101 was a 38spec chambering. I got it cause that was about all I was going to shoot in it anyways and the LGS had it about $150 less than the 357mag models. Yet another pistol I was I had back.

Those small .357’s can be brutal. :what:

That’s why I’m a yuuuuge fan of the .38 Spl. The ol’ .38 can’t do it all... but it can do an awful lot of what I want a handgun cartridge to do. :)

Stay safe.

Interested to hear from other folks on their favorite.
As for me, it's tough to put them in order of preference as each has it's own niche.
Based on what I shoot the most:
1. .22 long rifle
2. 45 ACP
3. .357 Special/ Mag.
4. .45 Colt.
5. 44 Special/ Mag.
6. 38 Super
7. 10mm
8. 9mm
9. 380ACP
Wow that was really tough and subject to change at any moment.
Also made me realize how many calibers I've been missing out on.:uhoh:
.30-06, .45ACP and 12ga. Not necessarily in that order.

Favorite cartridge for hunting would be the 357 Magnum

I am really liking the 480 Ruger a lot. Plinking load is a 370 grain RNFP at 900 fps. I like this one with 9 grains W231 or 16.5 grains H108.

Hunting load is a Mihec 385 grain HP @ 1050 - 1100 fps. I load this with 14.5 grains Hercules Blue Dot.

Hands down, all day long, 11mm Montenegrin.

Seriously, I couldn't list a favorite. If I did have to choose, it would most likely be a revolver round tho'.

I would need to know what application it was for before deciding. But the .357 could handle most. The .44 mag could handle most all. The .500 magnum could take care of anything.

The 9mm is head and shoulders my favorite and the caliber I get the most use out of. I've got a .40 S&W and a .22LR, and one .38 Special but for ease of logistics I've tried to consolidate around the 9mm as much as possible. That has been a good strategy so far. Instead of having 200-500 rounds for each gun I can have a big pile of 9mm and shoot it in nearly every handgun I have.

Given one choice...as in "favorite"....with the the understanding that it must do it all: make mine a .357 Magnum and the gun would be a Smith M-66

Now that's pretty limiting, for I truly enjoy .45 LC's and ACP's, .44 Specials (and it truly is) & Magnums, .41 Magnums, .32 H&R's...they're all great fun and very useful, but for one, and one only, I've got to side with Skeeter...make mine a .357...but chamber it in Smith's 'K' frame so as to keep the weight down.

Favorite range cartridge: .22LR
Favorite carry cartridge: Tough one. I like the .45 acp, but I carry 9mm most of the time. For the moment, anyway. I still keep thinking I'll go back to carrying .45 acp.
Favorite overall: Gotta go with .22LR. Low recoil, low cost, and Mrs. McGee will even go with me to the range to shoot it.

Don’t have one. Different cartridge for different needs.
While I agree with this you have to have a favorite for a given moment in time, usually it's the one your shooting at the time, not yesterdays or tomorrows but what's todays favorite. No one said it couldn't change at a moments notice.
Which accounts for my current interest in the 38 Super. just saying.;)
