With all of the church shootings that have taken place lately i was wondering should i carry at church. I would like to hear your thoughts on this .

Our church board took up the topic, we have designated people who carry at each service.

In some states you cannot CCW in a church. If you ever pulled under such conditions you would be looking at some SERIOUS legal repercussions!

this might be something we need to look at as there are several people at church that have permits including my wife the preacher and his wife.

Carry On

I live in TN and carry every Sunday to church. I mainly do not want my gun stolen, but there are a lot of looney tunes out there too.

I won't dictate religion to you, but my interpretation of the man upstairs says he still helps those who help themselves-regardless of where they are.

Outside of that, the reality of the situation is that others can still try to visit violence upon you and yours, regardless of the location.

As a final note, I won't advocate breaking the law. Be aware of the ones that pertain to you before you make a decision.

Use the search feature. It's been discussed multiple times.

As a pastor, I say "Yes," just don't make a spectacle of it or broadcast it. In Texas, it's required to be concealed, anyway. But if Grannie started bragging about her oscar in her handbag, first, I would call her in my office and ask to see the gat, then I would politely tell her that her heater needs to be a silent partner.

Yes; I speak hard-boiled :D

I've applied for a Texas CHL and I plan to carry on Sundays. A few of my elders know I've done this and intend to carry. They are OK with it as long as I practice what I preach re. carry.

all actions should be preceeded by thought, good start

should i carry at church.
only you can decide that

I certainly do so. The Lord IS my shepherd but he also said "Then he said to them, "But now whoever has a wallet must take it along, and his traveling bag, too. And the one who has no sword must sell his coat and buy one." Luke 22:36

If you ever HAD to pull under such conditions and were not carrying, you would be looking at the death of your self and loved ones.

I have been requested to carry at church & to sit at the back of the auditorium. Several of us including the leadership arranged a CCW course just for the congregants, and several carry every service. YOU NEVER KNOW.

I would carry it if I went to church. It will be concealed and no one needs to know.

If I had to use it to save my loved ones or myself and I happend to get in "Trouble" for it, then so be it. Better to be in trouble than dead or have dead family member.

I don't know what my state law says, but for a law abiding citizen to not be able to carry and protect his/her self/family, wherever the location may be, is ludicrous.

If someone at Virginia Tech carried a gun against the law and actually prevented a few deaths by shooting the bad guy, do you think that person would be in "serious touble"?? I dont' know the answer to this, but he/she would be a hero in my eyes.

I don't get why some people think carrying at church is a no-no. Jesus' buddies carried swords, so I think he's cool with me carrying my gun to church.

Sometimes you have to ignore rediculous laws out of common sense. The right to life pre-empts the law. Of course a judge might not see it that way.

I believe the church carry law is State based but I am not sure if it would be considered a felony or misdemeanor.

If you ever have to pull I don't think you would be worrying about litigation so long as you shot the right person.

Felony in Georgia.

Although, I wonder if the Minister would be excluded from prosecution based upon the "Place of Business" rules for carrying.

Those who seeking easy prey usually do it at locations where they know/feel people will mostly be unarmed.

I carry at any and all places the law allows.

As the old adage goes... I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I dont attend church until our state sorts out the legality of concealed carry in church. In one specific committe for the Senate, a specific Senator made himself absent and did not vote as required. Because of this senator's cowardice, the committee was able to get the CCW in church tabled (Killed) and kaput.

If I did attend Church, there is packing going on and only God knows along with the wife. The legal stuff and all the rest is just going to have to be thrown into the bath water if I ever have to draw inside the stupid building filled with sheep.

The thought of markmanship inside a church filled with sheep makes us choose our seats EXTREMELY CAREFULLY. as to provide the best "Lanes" of fire where it might become necessary against a invading criminal. Some churches are not so easy and others are easier when one considers the seating arrangement and the doors etc.

I refuse to exercise my right to worship while on knees so that a criminal thug can shoot us all dead.

My attitude had hardened considerably since the recent shootings at Illinois with our neighbors to the north of us.

Law or not.... that is how we roll to the House of God.

There is no other way.

200 years ago everyone packed to church to fight off indian raids and such problems that might interrupt the services in frontier areas. We go the same to fight off the criminal thug who thinks a house of god is filled with sheep ready for slaughter simply because a gang said go do it.

But until that gets sorted, we go get our worship off the Satellite and the good old FM radio. Thank god for Castle Doctrine and a few Neighbors who also fear and worship the Lord.
