I owned some Winchester Trappers and sold them. I called them my Wins.

I call my husband's Marlin lever action in 45-70 - the buffalo gun!

I have other names for firearms. I call his Ruger SP101 - Mr. Bill.

I figure if we can name boats - why not firearms?!

My firearms don't have my former boat names.

A few of my guns have nick names - the Yugo, the Turk, The Finn, etcetera, but none have personal names. I expect that some will have names eventually. Just remember, you don't name them, they name themselves. You'll know what their name is and that will be that.

Some are silly, like me calling my Browning Buckmark "Moses". But my ex-wife and I used to use code if I wanted her to go get a gun without tipping my hand. So my EAA Witness became "Whitney". As in, "Honey, could you ask Whitney to step in here?"

Others are just pet names.
