I'm split between the .45 acp and the .357 magnum. They both have their high points and they are designed for different weapons so I feel its ok to say both are my favorite.

The .357 magnum, because it has so many applications. However, I shoot the 9mm better, so it is what I use for my HD handgun. Of course, I think that has more to do with the gun (CZ75) than the round itself. I also had a .45, which I enjoyed shooting, but due to ammo prices, I ended up selling it. Never tried a .40 S&W.
