Next to the bed = .380

I want to be able to hear again.

Next to the door in the secret shelf for outside = .357 ... because I want to hear again if I live to tell.

Upside: decent area, quiet neighborhood, know neighbors. Downside: poor LE response time, a few break-ins and a less-than-savory subdivision not too far away.

Adequate preparations have been made to extend an appropriate greeting to home invaders, burglars and such.

At my laptop and right hand, SA XD9 SC; given a moment to stand and turn I would go for my shortened pistol grip Moss 500. Also a variety of 7.62x39 options available. With a lesser threat like a wandering raccoon, it would be my .410. Middle of the night would be a .357 and a .22 to make sure the intruder was armed.

I have a 709 SLIM with me at all times, in or out of the house. In house a 20 guage 870 youth model ( light, compact & easily to handel), and various handguns hidden throught the house.
BTW, my wife is very well trained, she can outshoot most men I know.

On my night stand is my colt delta elite 10mm. Also within reach is glock 23 . Wife has a smith & wesson 5946 ..thats only if they get passed the 3 dogs and alarm .

I count on a 1911 with golden sabre +P to be all that I will need.I shoot it enough that I'm coffident with it and of it. Lightman

1. A very alert dog that sleeps outside the master bedroom
2. With very little time to react: Beretta 92FS with 18 rounds of Remington Golden Saber 124-grain JHP, and a hand-held Surefire light
3. With a little more time to react: Remington 870 Marine with attached Streamlight TLR-1 weapon light, loaded with 3 rounds of #4 buck, followed by 3 rounds of 00 buck.

On the bedside table: Springfield Armory 'GI-45'

Under the bed...Maverick 88

If I run those dry, next up is the US Rifle Cal .30 M1...Popularly know as "The Garand"

For some reason not many people have the nerve to enter my yard....

An 870 is my HD preference just in case the little kids dont deter them... there is just something about the racking of a shotgun, nothing can compare...

Bedroom- Railed P220 w/lite
Kitchen- Wifes P232
Garage office- 870 Pump.
Living Room- P239 in .40SW
Always inside the waistband- J-Frame w/ +P
Plus a few other "surprises" for the ignorant wannabe intruder.

Yeah, I was a Boy Scout.

So, you want to make sure it's a fair fight by leaving some weapons around for the bad guy to find. :D

My rossi 851 38 special revolver, 4" barrel, laying on my nightstand in an open rug loaded with FMJ. Sure I have more powerful guns, but at least I know it will reliably fire 6 shots and skip a dud if i need it.

870 5 shot loaded with 00 buck and a very hyper mutt. His teeth aren't that big and he's a coward, but he's got a good alarm bark

Under the bed - Mossberg 500 12g pump

A bit further but still to hand - 1911 Colt Commander with 'da beams' (that's a red laser for those uninitiated)

Still further but handy - CZ Rami, 9mm with FMJ

thereafter if I'm still kicking its down to martial arts weapons - the rifles are usually in the safe.

Girl scouts are taught to 'be prepared' as well! :)

Remington 870 pump loaded initially with #4 buck followed by 00's and a PT1911 on my side.
