I own many more than I did five years ago, mostly because of the political situation. Living in CA means that if I want a gun that I see for sale at market value, I'd better buy it - I may never see another, and prices keep rising. I am currently satisfied with my collection, as I have a gun for every interest and an interest for every gun. I'm a shooter, on occasion a varminter, not really a hunter. My most recent additions were a variety of .22lr (a bolt-action youth, a M&P 15-22, a Buckmark, a Marlin 881, and a Ruger SP-101) for the grandkids to enjoy with me. Paid for all of those with two Glocks that did not fit my interests.
