No More United Artist (UA) Theaters

I'm with you in spirit, but it's going to be pretty hard for me to boycott a business that I don't ever patronize anyway
But nothing prevents you from contacting them and telling them that because of their no-guns policy, you'll not go to any of their theaters again.

Frank, thanks for the clarification.

If the sign bears the full weight and penalty of the law, then I will obey it no matter what state I am. On that note, I will also NOT patronize a business that has such policies.

In states like TX and FL where there are many law-abiding gun owners, that is bad for business...

I noticed that "30.60" error too, and wondered if the owner was trying to cover both bases. For the fraidy-cats, it would make them comfortable "knowing" there were none of those eeeevilll guns in the place, but for knowledgeable armed citizens, the sign would be meaningless and they could go in carrying (concealed) anyhow.

Seems like kind of an obvious error for a professional sign maker to make... unless somehow he was thinking of 30-60-90 triangles or something at the time. Maybe his wife's measurements.

Or maybe he just figured a "30-60" sign would be ten times as effective as a mere "30-06" sign.

Who knows?

I also wondered if the legislators in the back rooms (no longer "smoke-filled rooms," though) didn't deliberately write the law so specifically (lettering size and all) that it would be easy for an owner to post an ineffective sign if s/he wanted to.

Jes' noodling in my head about all this... ;)

This is the sign they put in front of stores that sell alcohol. Means nothing to a chl holder.
(sorry I don't know how to get the pic copied here)

Hence why I stated "it can be ignored"... :)

Maybe, but it seems like an awful lot of trouble to have a sign printed up that is so close with one error when a simple "gun busters" or "no firearms" type thing would accomplish the same results. I don't think the average non-concealed-carry person is aware that such a distinction exists.

I've chatted with a few over the years that didn't realize a CHL was even a thing. "You mean you can just walk down the street with a gun?" Not that I was bragging about it, mind you. I ran a little neighborhood bar for years and many of the regulars knew I was a bit of an enthusiast, as were some of them, so it was a topic of slightly more than occasional conversation.

Don't even get me started about the ones that ask me if all my guns are "registered."

Don't get that too much here in CO (yet) but my answer one time was, "Of course. They even have serial numbers" and let it go at that. (They're <ahem> registered with the factories after all, so it's not even a tiny fib.)

I post a lot of speculative "maybes," as you said, just to keep the thinking pot boiling, so thanks for your comment.
