October 2009 Rimfire Match!

Okay. It's Thursday again and my last Friday range trip in October to clobber you guys. :) Since I'm leading in the semi-auto category I won't do myself any good there. Orlando has a perfect score in the target class. That means the 25 yd sporter score of 58 is the one to beat.

Doesn't look like I'll be able to participate unless it's tomorrow. If it's tomorrow, then I hope it's not windy :)

You and me both...between helping my cousin move (literally across the country), work, and other obligations I have't had much time until dark...and that makes it a bit hard to shoot... accurately anyway. Hopefully tomorrow...after I chauffeur my cousin to the airport one last time. :)

This looks like a 54. Couldn't beat the top score this evening. Looks like the other shooters are gonna have to do it on Halloween if it's going to be done.

Just couldn't make it happen this month...too much going on...but next month I should have a little more time. Either way, if I am able to I WILL shoot in the match next month. Thank you all for participating, and keep submitting your targets till midnight (at your time zone).

:)

Results are in:

Seems like 50 yard scoped wasn't that popular, looks like we will have to make a few modifications to the class system for more shooters. I am thinking that we should axe a class for each distance. Perhaps just a Unlimited and Sporting class for scoped and unscoped divisions. Also if there are no objections lets open the Unlimited class up for ALL rimfire cartridges (to include .17Mach2/HMR) in addition to the .22cals. I have to admit that I am biased, as I am planning to convert my 10/22 to .17Mach2 here shortly (now that I have a new "fun plinker" to take its place), so I will go by what you guys decide upon.

Enough rambling...here are the results (all 25yd unscoped division):

Unlimited: 1st-Orlando=60
2nd-ifit=58 (and 43)
3rd-HuntAndFish=57
Honorable Mention-jordan1498=38

Sporting: 1st-Orlando=58
2nd-HuntAndFish=56 (and 54)

Repeating: 1st-HuntAndFish=56
2nd-mjsmith1223=45
3rd-jordan1498=29

Please let me know if I made any scoring mistakes or left anyone out of the final scoreboard as listed above. I apologize in advance if that is the case. Thank you to all who supported and participated in the match. Please let me know if you have any recommendations for next month's match. I would like to propose the "dart-board" target near the top of the thread as the target as it will be interesting, different and easy to score, but I am open to any and all recommendations.

Also, please put in a good word with the big guy for FlyinBryan (the generous creator of the leaderboard). It has been a couple of weeks since I have heard from him, and last time we spoke (or PM'd) he told me that he had a bad case of influenza and was not making too much progress after seeing the doctor.

Thanks, Mav. :)

Good wishes for flyinBryan. Mav, I believe ifit is second in the unlimited class and I am third.

I need to find a 50 yard range where I can use rifle positions. I'm good with however you want to run the matches.

Thanks to Maverick223 and flyinBryan for their work and setting this up.
Looking forward to Novembers match. Lets get more shooters involved

Dart Board target sounds good to me, something different

My attempt on Saturday was short lived. The little one awoke after I put 15 rounds on paper. That's all i got until around 5 that evening, and the wind picked up considerably. Needless to say, it looked like a voodoo doll :)

Good job mav and HAF, and all others. I will be in the November match up. LOL

Greetings Folks!

I'm Recoil, the admin from the Second Amendment Society forums. I was looking at my forum logs and wondered where all the traffic from THR was coming from...And here it is! I see you found our targets. :)

If you guys want more targets for this stuff in the future, I wrote up a short thread about reduced target training for .22s right here, which has several different targets for the purpose.

We've done some of our own postal match marksmanship challenges as well. You guys are welcome to participate. We're going to be offering a prize (a Cabela's gift card) for the one that's going on right now, though this one is an AR shoot, not .22s.

Anyway, keep up the good shootin', everyone...I see there's some good shooters in this crowd that I wouldn't want to be downrange from. :D

Welcome to THR and I appreciate the use of your targets. It is nice to have more friends that support RKBA and the shooting sports. My apologies for being so slow to respond I have been sick lately and haven't been doing much but lying around lately. Feeling a bit better now so I will be starting next month's match here shortly. You and all other fellow shooters are more than welcome to participate in the November Rimfire Match. Thanks, Mav.

Maverick,

Thanks for the warm invite, and the invitation. I'll pass the word along! :)

ETA: I posted up your invite here. Thanks again!
