Truck gun? Yes or no

I do not keep a truck gun .(I do drive a truck.) The reason : Any item left in the vehicle as a matter of routine tends to be forgotten and neglected. I feel that I am better off with daily management of my carry.

If I did decide to keep a gun in the vehicle I would need to rig some sort of safe. My experience with bio safes has yielded inconsistent results , I don't want to fumble around for a key ... Also , in the event of a vehicle break in I do not wish to deal with law enforcement regarding a stolen weapon.

I make deliveries to homes, businesses and restaurants. State law prohibits you from carrying in an establishment that serves alcohol, so my EDC becomes a vehicle gun when I'm working.

When I'm done working the gun comes inside with me

My handgun is always on my belt where it belongs.
I've never thought of it as a "truck gun" but this time of year there is a rifle in the truck in case I see a coyote. Of coarse when I see one it's usually when I left the rifle home or I'm using my wife's vehicle.

Not a truck owner, my car is a convertible with a soft top. I'd never leave anything of value in there, well, only change for bridge/road tolls. A few dollars at most.
When I travel for errands and such my G26 is my companion and I never let it wait in the car.

Under my circumstances (suburban/urban area, WA, etc.) I wouldn't even think about it. I CC where I can and I have a hard time thinking of situations where I'd be in a position to use a truck gun but not in a position to just drive away from the threat AND where I couldn't handle the threat with my CC pistol.

If I were down on the ranch I'd be more likely to consider it, but I think I'd rather find a longarm/sling combination that let me do the work I was going to do rather than store the longarm on a vehicle.

I generally have a 9mm pistol in my truck, and I definitely do when I travel. My carry gun is a single stack and I like a little more than that in my truck. But I also live in a safe area and park in a garage overnight. I've been toying with picking up a Sub 2000 or similar to keep under my back seat. I like the idea of a handy long gun I can pack around easily, and comparability with my handgun caliber would be handy.

I do not currently have a firearm in my vehicle, but I often do. My employer precludes my carrying at work but cannot forbid me from keeping something locked in my vehicle.

I have a pistol in a lock box in my truck, aside from my CCW. I can have my AR pistol loaded in the truck in WI, as I have a carry license. That should cover any needs. An actual rifle or shotgun would have to be kept unloaded.

How many of you have truck guns, is it a good idea to have a gun in your car or not?
You should always have a gun in the truck/car. And it should be a good one. The one you would want if something happens while you were away from home.

I don't because I can carry almost everywhere I go on a daily basis. From time to time I need to leave my gun in my vehicle due to GFZ's so it's only briefly.

I do understand the need for some people to keep their gun in their vehicles because work won't allow guns. Hopefully more and more people are realizing the need to make sure they are secured a little better than just a locked door. We all know that's not much of a deterrent for a smash and grab. It's not about your loss, it's about adding to the number of guns in criminal hands. You shouldn't have to leave your gun at home when you want to have it travelling to and from work.

If I lived in a rural environment I would probably keep a long gun handy during the day in my vehicle, especially if I owned some acreage that I needed to check on.

My youngest is a teenager in HS and occasionally has to drive my truck or Mrs. car to school when his truck is down for service.
No truck guns for us for a while.

We used to just park across the road to solve that one. It really pissed them off, but off their property they can’t enfoce their unconstitutional opinions much to their disapproval. I realize some schools are placed where that isn’t an option though, but homeschool always is. Sometimes refusing to conform to what’s wrong with society makes you broke and cost lots of extra labor. But yields big rewards down the road.

Never know when I'll see a coyote or bobcat. During the week I don't carry a rifle because I leave before daylight and get home after dark.

Not all of us, but even if the schools didn't care, in today's society leaving guns in the gun rack at school would be problematic.

At work I cannot bring the gun inside, so it stays in my car in a reasonable well protected parking lot right next to the shop. If I go by the bank on the way home, same thing, it stays in the car, stop by Home Depot, it goes with me, get home, it goes inside with me.
