Would I trust it if I had to, yes. Is it my first choice, no.
It's funny. I live in MD. I don't own a business with large cash deposits (or that deals with easily moved/stolen and liquidated assets like jewelry or guns), I'm not a cop, I'm not a judge, and I'm not a prosecutor/states attorney. That combination means I can't get a CCW permit in my home state. Thus, I don't usually carry anything bigger than a knife and pepper spray (and being a teacher, most of the time I'm outside the home I can't carry a knife either). A .380 would be a huge step up from my daily gear.
I have a UT non-resident permit, and I'm soon applying for a NH (a few years ago PA stopped accepting the non-resident permit from most states, including UT, but they still have reciprocation with the non-resident NH permit) and I usually carry when in a state that allows it (usually a couple times a month, plus often on vacation). I have an LCP that I carried a few times, and some years back I had a Bersa Thunder I carried a few times. However, I find myself feeling very uncomfortable about carrying a .380 and rarely go to a carry state with less than a 9mm.
I suppose if I lived in a carry state and carried all the time the convenience of the small LCP may outweigh my discomfort with the caliber and I might find myself carrying it more (and if I carried it more, I'd shoot it more at the range). If I carried and practiced with it more I might become more comfortable with it. So, in that situation, I recognize that it is possible that my position may change. However, as things stand now, as irrational as it is (being that a .380 would be an improvement over what I can usually carry- knife and pepper spray), I just don't trust it much.
