M1 to all 3.
Qualified on M1 in '64, was issued and qualified on an M14 in 65, then issued an M16 in '66. Losing that M1 was like losing my best friend. The M14 was probably going to be allright but then they gave me an M16 which I thought was a piece of cr**. Was like a toy and I, like a whole bunch of folks suffered jams out the ying yang till we got proper cleaning instructions.
The M1 was a work of art. Patton said it ""The M1 rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised."
The ping of that clip is better than the "smell of napalm in the morning".
