I was thinking if you were to create a character in the mold of James Bond but he is American, what would you arm him with? I am thinking as main gun a nickle plated Colt 1911 in .38 Super with a Colt 1903 in .32 ACP also nickle plated as a back up.

Wilson KZ tactical carry....with a 3 inch SP101 in .357 for backup....and an implanted chip-radio to call in airstrikes on Masachusetts:evil:

Snubnose .38. Small enough to conceal in almost any clothing, but reasonably powerful.

Well, this is fun topic. Lots of room for imagination...Let's see here:

1) Say this guy is supposed to be a suave, tuxedo/dinner-jacket wearing spy:
If we're talking the 1960s/1970s--then a .38 Colt might do him. Or a Colt .32 auto.

If we're looking at the 1980s/1990s, then we have to go a bit heavier and get into automatic territory. Maybe one of S&Ws compact automatics. 6906 series. H&K P7M13, Walther P5 compact.

If we're looking at 2000s, then maybe an H&K USP compact or Walther P99.

2) If we're talking about a more "government operative" type spy from Tom Clancy or Carsten Stroud:
1960s/1970s--Colt Commander .45 or a Browning 9mm
1980s/1990s--S&W 5900 series 9mm or a Glock
2000s--Sig 229 in .357SIG

That's just off the top of my head.

CDS
Simma=Sig P229 9mm
Winona=S&W 4006
Domino=Walther P99 .40

Bond always carried smaller easily concealed weapons... so, in that light, either a Seecamp 380 or a SIG 230/232 stainless, also in 380

I think back to the Bond movies, and the most common gender of the spies of other nations that he worked with (or against) were female. So in that vein, I'll go with one of the more notable female TV spies of our time, Sydney Bristow of "Alias." She used a Glock often in the snaps I could find, but seems like she'd use whatever the mission called for, from subcompacts to .45's, up to and including an AK47 and a Krinkov type. Being proficient with just one gun is, well, un-American.

Here she is having a double order of Glock and a side of high cap.

An American bond would almost certainly emphasize "bang" over concealment.

A 'current' American Bond would have either a Kahr .40 loaded with black tiped Carbon-Glaser Safety Slugs (armor piercing) or a brace of S&W M 60s(.357) stuffed with the same type of ammo. OR a 1911 chambered in .50 GI :D . (Please no Desert Eagles :barf: )

Hmmm...

50-70s era would have to have a 1911.

80s on he'd have a glock in 45 acp.

Bond doesn't get cooler with age, but he does get more firepower. Eventually I'd kill him off too. AIDs. :uhoh:

:neener:

Wasn't XXX supposed to be the "American James Bond?" He used a nice shiny stainless revolver in the first movie (dunno make or model).

A James Bond-like secret agent for the US? With whizzbang gadgets and ladies galore?
Colt .45 Peacemaker and deringers.

Seeing as though James Bond is a "spy" I would certianly not go with a nickle plated gun. If he's sneaking around on a cover op with his sidearm drawn, the highly reflective nickle plating won't doing anything to help him, and is just too gaudy in my opinion for someone in his line of work.

With that out of the way, if I were going to give him a 1911 variant I would go with a commander or officer sized 1911 with a Black T finish; perhaps with a threaded barrel to accept a silencer (or sound supresser for you anal types).

Yes Bond is a very mild mannered and modest individual who simply detests 'flash'. Give him a big bowl of vanilla icecream and send him home to read a nice book with his wife of 26 years.

I'd like to see a S&W 500 :what:

But really, if he's American, then some 1911 variant. If it's gotta be ultra compact, how about a STI LS9 or a Springfield Ultra Compact?

"...now listen up 007, this is your new sidearm. Caseless rounds of course, tungsten-core'd surrounded by a rather soft jacketing of copper that is guaranteed to propel a 200 grain bullet at approximately 2000 feet per second. We fashioned it to look like a compact Glock for the obvious reasons, and the entire weapon itself is hinged with one recoil spring after another to reduce recoil to something on the order of a robust .22 long rifle. Now the simply fascinating aspect of the projectile is the...oh how would I put it so even you would understand...think of a round with a built-in after-burner that is intiated once the bullet exits the target and once again is exposed to the air. Innocent bystanders behind your intended target and the like. An immediate breaking system is deployed to reduce the velocity to something along the lines of 50 feet per second in a matter of nanoseconds so as to render being struck by such bullet nothing more than a mere ouch."

"The level of ouch would depend on where exactly a man WAS struck, eh Q?"

"Oh grow up 007. I'm quite certain that the women of the world wouldn't call for a national day of mourning were you to be on the receiving end of a projectile that happened to damage your tallywha..."

A US govt agent would no doubt be issued a foreign made automatic of some ilk!:mad:
