There seems to be one shot that needs some reviews... I'm not going to award myself bonus points because I might be a little biased.. ;)

The shot in question is the bottom row, middle of the Remington ammo target... I took as good a close-up of it as my camera would allow... I'd like your opinions...

This is the shot in question... :scrutiny:

The rule clearly says the hole must be clearly inside the black... nothing about impact tears in the paper...

Well I had already awarded those points to you, even before the close up. I think if the official judge agrees that will put you 1 point ahead of me.:fire: The guantlet has been thrown. Im going to get me some more magazines,(lots of misfeeds last time), more ammo that hasnt had 5 or 6 birthdays and have a go at it again!
Good Luck

xringonly: Thank you. :)

Throwing down the gautlet huh?? Well... :neener:

I plan on getting out one more time this weekend with the Model Five to see what she's capable of... but, if I must, I will take the 597 back out and have another go at it... :)

Good luck to you also...

I'll admit it: I'm a dolt. Ignoramous. Dufus. You call it how you will.

Because I don't know how to score these targets!!! How does one score this thing? Some of you are saying 26, 28, 30 - that's all well and good, but I have no idea what that means.

Q

Quoheleth:

Scoring
Take ONE shot at each dot, for a total of 15 shots. The hole touching or inside largest dot is worth one point. The slightly smaller dot below it is worth 2 points, the dot below it is worth 3 points, the dot below it is worth 4 points and the smallest dot on the bottom is worth 5 points. 45 total points are possible.

And to make this a little more interesting... IF ALL five shots in one of the vertical columns are CLEARLY FULLY inside the black a bonus of 10 extra points per column will be awarded. 30 possible bonus points + 45 = perfect 75 score

Not difficult...

...because I didn't read all the way back to the beginning of the thread. :banghead: Sorry, guys.

Quoheleth I hope you'll join us in this match. As I recall you had a levergun entry in the past matches. So far only two levergun entries. I'm hoping add mine to the contest this weekend.

Teasers and inspiration

There is another weekend left so get out and shoot.

The two highest Scores have been posted by Johnson_n and leads the Iron Sight Bolt class and Old Gold Scoped Bolts. Hats off to these guys for showing us what is possible. This is Johnson's second match and he's proving to be a force. This is the first Mach OldGold has participated and he too looks like the man to beat in his class.

In the Levergun divisions some familiar names top the list. MalH has the top spot with the iron sights and JohnMcl demonstrated what can be done with a scoped Marlin 39.

The hotly contested Autoloader division is topped by Schleprok62 closely followed by Xringonly. Spinnerblade posted a nice target with his 10-22 and is good enough for 3rd place at this time.

No iron sighted autos yet.

Johnson_n posits:
When will the July challenge be ready?

Well, I would recommend it start on the date corresponding to the numeral 1 on your July 2008 calendar. But, that's only because it makes sense to me. Otherwise, we might accidentally be shooting the October 2008 postal match. :what:

Then again, JustSayMo strikes me as a pretty sensible guy... so I'll just leave it up to him.

Thanks again Johnson n, I did that and am now hitting right where I aim at 25yds. I had a good target going but the wind blew it of the box and off down the range. Teach me to use more tape next time.

Well, I'm planning on taking the new bolty out this weekend just to see... I will take a stab or three at this target...

I am also aiming to better my autoloader score... hey, "the gauntlet's been thrown... I gotta try!!! right??? :D

xring: all in good clean fun... right?? good luck...

I made it out to the desert today and shot four targets. The third one was the best.

I forgot my camera so no desert pics.

I was running late so I didn't bring the CZ, the bolt action category was looking tough anyway. I was hoping with a little luck I could get some bonus points shooting the 10-22. Didn't happen, but had fun trying.

I recently got a Spike's Tactical upper and wanted to play with it before it got too dark. This pic is from last week, thought my fellow 22 shooters might want to see it. Patrick

I almost forgot. Thanks alot Mo for putting this match on. I had a good time shooting my 22's. Patrick

Spinner, you are welcome. Thanks for your participation and excellent pictures and range reports!

Keep your powder dry and your cartridges hydrated. :p;)

I may have to try that gatoraid bottle trick next match.

Well... was gone nearly the entire month of June, but got back home at 3:45 a.m. on Sat and wasn't going to miss getting in some shooting! Made it to the range later that afternoon.

Only had a short time to shoot, but got a decent target and will be sending it along. If I can shoot another, I'll figure out how to scan and get it in.

Thx again Mo!

Well, I tried. I swear I did.

I just couldn't get loose today.

Sorry, but no targets from Fast Frank this month.

I feel like the kid who's dog actually ate his homework!

I'll get in there for next month.

I'll post the results ASAP once I get shootr's target. Officially shooters have until the 5th get targets in but so far no one has needed my address.

As a teaser I did get the FIRST and only PERFECT target submitted this evening. WOW! NICE SHOOTING John!

If someone knows how to post a pdf I can forward the target to them.

I shot a 36 with my CZ 452 American and feel pretty darn good about it even though I'm in last place in that division. This was a difficult contest. In the open sight lever division (WAY under represented BTW, come on 39 club members!) I only managed one target over 30. Those little dots on the bottom were pretty much just a guess looking over the open sights. The top three were almost automatic but the 4's & 5's were mere specks above the bead. Maybe just a little too tough but fun just the same. I don't know if there was more joy or relief when I did manage to hit one.

Schleprok, Spinnerblade and me were the only participants to enter with multiple rifles (so far at least).

Fast Frank I need a note from your mother.

I hope even more of you will join us next month.
