Status of S 397?

I was away from the TV for awhile. What happend with this bill?

THANKS.

I expected the dems to talk nonsense during the debate period, but I'm surprised and a bit irritated that McConnell is wasting time on an irrelevant subject. It seems like the Senators just have something they want to talk about and they butt in on whatever is being debated about. I guess this will be going to full 30 hours

Graham spoke for a few minutes in support of 397, now Hatch is speaking. Someone else spoke in support, but I wasn't paying attention to see who.

I'll be leaving for lunch soon, so hopefully someone can keep an eye on the Demos during their time and catch the next vote to consider the bill.

The schedule has a vote at 2PM

That's just the vote for cloture on the actual bill, as opposed to cloture on the motion to consider the bill. After that they will have an hour of remembrance for the 20th anniversary of the Omnibus Agriculture Bill of 1985, and name a bale of hay after Robert Byrd  Then, finally, they will get to the eagerly awaited 30 hours of blathering.

Kit Bond up now to speak in support, but he also wants to talk about the media attacking the war in Iraq and how they undermine the efforts of our soldiers.

Nickotym

I will be recording the S. 397 Debate/Vote at 2pm, get with me by email to get the audio.

Thanks NC Gun, I will be back by 1 PM CDT, so I should be able to hear the debate of the actual bill, but may not hear the vote. I expect it to get cloture for the actual bill though.

Wuold be nice to get someone keeping tabs on who votes how for cloture and the actual measure later, don't know if Bart Roberts will be able this time like he did last year.

Mark Dayton (D Minnesota) up now complaining that they are not working on the DOD bill.

And I am outta here. See you in an hour.

There we go again with this BS on CPSC. :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

Dayton you idiot, let me explain something to use. Gun don't need CPSC regulation since they have to be regulated from beginning to end anyway from the BATF!

Good riddance to him in 2006

So at 2 they will be voting for cloture on the bill itself?

The woman at the NRA- ILA said no amendments had been filed on the bill as far as they knew.

Dick "Gulag" Durbin is ranting about how people whose names are similar to terrorists can buy guns.

Dick Durbin up now

Probably the most vocal yet about how we/republicans/NRA have harmed america by putting off the DOD bill for S. 397. He is also using the word "terrorism" alot when speaking about "guns."

I see the Democrats acknowledging defeat, yet trying to hurt the Republican Leadership by suggesting that we don't care about the DOD bill.

Love this ignorance he displays....place 100 "Saturday Night Specials" in your truck to sell to "Gun Gangs" to "kill innocent people". What a moron. Liar, liar, is an understatement. Trying not to puke on my keyboard...now he talks about a teenager getting shot accidentally by his buddy who bought a street gun for $50, and negligently shot his buddy - he even called it a Saturday Night Special.....wonder what he would say if faced with the fact that term came from the phrase "Ni**er Saturday Night" from the 40s/50s....

Ugh

I am so tired of hearing about how Law Enforcement is being threatened by Gun Manufacturers, when Law Enforcement gets gun (at incredible discount prices)
from Gun Manufacturers.

I've said this before, and I will say it again, all US Gun Manufacturers should get together and unite around this issue, and announce that they will no longer provide firearms to LE after the current contracts expire.

I just discovered that if one points one's browser to www.nra.org, clicks on "join", then navigates to "info on endowment, etc" ...

... that the bandwidth consumed takes up enough of my sdsl connection that it totally disrupts c-span's stream of Dick Durbin reciting the talking points he was given by Tom Diaz.

I found Mr. Durbin's lack of originality disturbing and now I feel better as I'm a freshly minted endowment member. I really shouldn't let Durbin get to me like that - could prove expensive in the long run. :fire:
